Enrol with us for all your power & sailing craft certificates of competency. Our Admin Office is in Pinelands, Cape Town, and our examination process will take place at SAFMA Ottery (for directions click the link top right). The water test can be done at various locations, such as dams or at sea.

The new marine notice 13 of 2011 is the guideline to the teaching and examination process for skippers in South Africa. We the teaching schools and SAMSA Examiners have to adhere to their proposed standard.

Buy Boating Safety Equipment

Select Equipment and note the list of safety equipment that can be ordered. We will deliver in Cape Town or you can make arrangements to collect. We do have collection centres in Durban and Port Elizabeth. You can also download a checklist of safety equipment necessary to pass a Certificate of Fitness exam below.

Certificates of Competence (CoC)

We provide all courses and SAMSA teaching modules needed for your required certification. To advance to a higher level an applicant must have completed all the lower courses starting from category R. Self Study & 2hr Skype Preparation

We have a comprehensive manual from inland waters to skipper offshore available for purchase online - see the notes. We also have made available 125 questions and answers that cover Category R and E, which will assist you when you are examined. We are striving to increase this list so that there will be no items left out and that you will be able to answer 85% and more of any question presented to you by any SAMSA examiner in SA. If you feel you need to be tested before you apply for the examination then we offer short prep course with one of our instructors via Skype. Examination Process

A SAMSA approved examiner will take charge of your examination process that will take place by arrangement with APBA. The water test will take place after the exams by arrangement with your examiner. No applicant will be examined if all the paper requirement are not handed in before your selected exam date and your payments reflect in our banking statements.
